Marwah Valley -an Introduction

Marwah valley is located in district kishtwar , connected with Kashmir valley via Margan Top often called as valley of death . It is 180 kms away from Srinagar . Marwah valley is nestled between middle himalayan & trans himalayan range. The valley could be one among the top tourist destination for kashmir tourism .

During 1980s till early 1990s this valley used to host trekkers from all over india . Western trekkers mostly Europeans used to visit this valley during summer .They used to trek from yourdoo -methwan -mundeksar eventually to panikhar kargil . Now Jammu & Kashmir tourism is opening new destination to tourists , Marwah valley should be one in wishlist if you are visiting Kashmir

Before reaching to Marwah valley from kashmir , its preferable to do night stay at Daksum , so that you can reach early morning to Margan top ,where you can trek to Choharnag ,( Four springs - Alpine lake) which is one hour trek from the margan top . After lunch you can continue to your journey towards Marwah valley , preferable option for accommodation should be homestay or do camping on the isle of river maru - sudar . Marwah valley produces world famous Rajmah (kidney beans ) make sure you order rajma chawal for dinner .

Your morning should start with a cup of namkeen tea ( salty pink tea ) which locals prefer to have in breakfast ,and start to plan your day to explore the beautiful valley . Explore beautiful satarwagen Marwah view Point , from where you can have an overview of Marwah valley . While coming back from satarwagen beneath lies the base for village shepherd where you can witness old amazing cultural practice .

Rar water fall : Rar is beautiful village in Marwah , the gigantic waterfall is located one hour trek from this village , which gives you the glimpses of heaven.

Islets of Marwah & Domail: There are few places in world , where you can witness the continuous trails of island , one among them is Marwah valley , the islets of marwah are located over the span of 3 long kms . You will come across suspension bridge which adjoins Qaderna and Nowpachi . This place just captures your mind , the two rivers meet here maru & sudar which adds charm to this valley .

Hot spring : Since Centuries people from south Kashmir visit this Hot spring locally called as tata pani . One can take a dip in hot water believed to cure lot of diseases .

Trek to : Marwah valley is one among the top trekking destinations in j&k . One can trek to famber valley which is 7-8 hours of trek .

Trek to Sarsnag : Sarsnag is an alpine lake which is 4-5 hours of trek from yourdoo village

Trek to Panikhar Kargil : It takes 3 days to reach Panikhar kargil via Mundeksar , which is almost 5-7 kms in length , preferable to do a night stay at mundeksar . One can overlook the beautiful nun-kun peaks . After crossing thandi nadi ,you eventually reach to kargil.
